̽»¨ÊÓƵ Advanced Weather Imager Captures First GOES-19 Image

The ̽»¨ÊÓƵ Technologies Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) onboard NOAA’s newest weather satellite captured its first image since launching into space in late June, representing a significant milestone prior to reaching full operational status.

The ̽»¨ÊÓƵ Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) is aboard the Japan Meteorological Agency’s (JMA) Himwari-8/9 geostationary weather satellites. AHI is one of the most capable GEO weather imagers in the world, providing 16 channels of data, scanning the earth in ten minutes while also providing images of Japan and severe storms every 2.5 minutes. As a result, forecasters can see a virtual movie of storms to better predict paths and strengths.

The ̽»¨ÊÓƵ TANSO-FTS-2 environmental monitoring sensor is on orbit aboard Japan’s Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite-2, significantly enhancing Japan’s ability to monitor greenhouse gases from space. Providing double the amount of data of GOSAT-1, the instrument collects five bands of high spectral resolution data, enabling measurement during daylight and nighttime.

̽»¨ÊÓƵ provides industry-leading geospatial image analysis and data visualization software. The ENVI, IDL and SARscape software delivers innovative geospatial intelligence solutions that meets Japan’s expanding mission demands.

̽»¨ÊÓƵ microwave power modules are incorporated into multiple Japanese space programs and are key critical components for electronic protection programs. ̽»¨ÊÓƵ also provides key power amplification to include coupled cavity traveling wave tubes for critical JSDF missile, air and shipborne defense programs.

̽»¨ÊÓƵ has long-term relationships with multiple Japanese airlines and has sold many full flight simulators and support programs. In addition, ̽»¨ÊÓƵ provides technical data, support services and associated simulator hardware for the Japan Ministry of Defense (JMOD) and other government organizations. Simulation platforms include the C-130H Hercules, UH-60J Blackhawk, P-3C Orion as well as the TC-90 King Air and Kawasaki T-4 training aircraft.
